Creative Recording with Tape Op videos
Oh yeah, we have a video series about music recording! -by Larry Crane
I’m a little behind on stocking up our Substack posts after mixing several albums and then popping up to Seattle to film 26 more videos for the Creative Recording with Tape Op video series. I don’t believe it’s been discussed on these posts, but the first batch of videos has been rolling out for a while, and they were filmed at Jackpot! The new batch was done at Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle, thanks to our pal Stuart Hallerman and his right hand man, Jay Follette. Tape Op’s online publisher, Geoff Stanfield, oversees the production, audio, editing, sponsorships, and rollout plus hosts the videos with me. These are all somewhat short videos, and we talk about a lot of misconceptions recordists might stumble into and offer lots of knowledge about making records. These hope to be an antidote to the useless product shilling and hype that’s out there these days.
Our patient director of photography is Christopher Bell, and editor Duncan Sharp tightens it up. Please check out our videos, subscribe on YouTube, and support our sponsors! Here are a few photos from the video sessions at Avast! that Geoff took.
