The Go-Betweens Anthology Volume 3 2000-2006
The Full Jackpot! Recording Studio "Rough" Mixes are Out Soon! -by Larry Crane
As discussed earlier this year, I recorded The Go-Betweens “comeback” album, The Friends of Rachel Worth, at Jackpot! Recording Studio in February 2000. PREORDER
On December 13, 2024, Domino Records is releasing the third and final G Stands for Go-Betweens box set, collecting their last three albums and many extras. It includes 4 LPs, 7 CDs, and a 112-page book.
The Friends of… will be remastered, and a bonus disc features the complete set of rough mixes I did in one day (February 23, 2000) before the band left town. Later, four of these mixes were used for the actual album. See the track list below. The bottom two songs, “Woman Across The Way”, “The Locust Girls”) we also recorded at Jackpot!, but I believe were mixed in Germany later. Or maybe not?

The set also includes the “Airlock Demos” for these songs and others, which I recall being referenced during our sessions. Their final album, Oceans Apart, also is getting a remix. It was brutally mixed and mastered, with digital clipping throughout, though the songs are amazing. I hope it sounds better now!
I’ll always be honored to have been part of The Friends of Rachel Worth and to have spent a few weeks with Grant McLennan, Robert Forster, awesome Adele Pickvance, and the wonderful Janet Weiss. Amazing music. Amazing memories.
My friend Kris Gillespie at Domino worked on this release!
