The Off Beat is Here
A non-profit all ages music and learning space in Portland opens! -by Larry Crane
Friends of Noise has been active since 2016. Their mission: “Friends of Noise is a non-profit organization built on the values of collectivism and restorative justice. We seek to transform the culture of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth access to the music industry.” Their recently-opened venue and learning space, The Off Beat, is an amazing resource and something Portland, Oregon, really needed. It’s across the street from the giant Paul Bunyan statue in the Kenton neighborhood, 8440 N Interstate Ave, Portland, OR, 97217. The space is fun and inviting, and recording gear will be set up soon to teach young people with and capture live shows. I can’t wait to take our niece there for a show performed by kids her age!
Please attend shows, get young persons involved, and support this amazing space and Friends of Noise.
